Loki – season 2

Loki Season 2 marked my second venture into episodic projects, where I once again assumed my role as the lead for lighting and look development.
Moreover, the season presented a plethora of intricate challenges, ranging from the gruesome ‘time-slipping’ of Loki to the surreal ‘spaghettification’ of an entire record store. Additionally, there was the intricate task of deconstructing and reconstructing a universe of timelines.
Furthermore, collaborating closely with the FX department and drawing insights from previs and the art department’s source material, we dedicated extensive efforts to meticulously craft each of the complex effects showcased throughout the series.
One notable challenge we faced was defining the appearance of the dying timeline strands and seamlessly merging these timelines as they underwent healing, forming the colossal Yggdrisil tree on a universal scale.
Beyond the intricacies of creating a distinct visual identity for the timelines, increasingly complicated in the mature world of the MCU, our primary hurdle in the climactic final sequence of the second season lay in efficiently managing the FX and rendering demands. This was especially critical for a single shot that transitions from a human-scale perspective to an awe-inspiring portrayal of the immense Yggdrisil tree.
