Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

For my second outing on a Doctor Strange film I was once again kept on my toes by the complications and peculiarities of the project.

One of my responsibilities was to create a digital double of Strange, but this time I had to make two versions of him – one from the present universe and another from a parallel universe. These doubles needed to be of very high quality as they were extensively used in multiple full CG shots.

In addition, I devoted a significant amount of time to developing the appearance of a character named Rintrah – a Minotaur with green fur. Regrettably, the sequence in which we had lit Rintrah was ultimately removed from the film, a frustratingly common occurrence in Marvel projects.

Along with my look development work, I was also accountable for the Vishanti Temple dais look development and its accompanying light rig. The filming stage was equipped with over 60 LED panels that cycled through bright blue, pink, and orange colors, creating the illusion of colors constantly revolving around the actors. To complicate matters, the cycle’s speed and starting point varied with each shot and take. Matching the on-set cycle with our virtual light rig was a highly complex process, requiring the most advanced light rig setup I’ve ever had to create. Despite the challenges, we were able to blend our CG seamlessly with the shot action, resulting in a successful outcome.
