Avengers: Infinity War - Iron Man

Iron Man has a whole new look in Infinity War. Iron Man’s Mark 50 ‘bleeding edge’ suit is a move away from his solid suit of previous films: rather than unfolding, it is made up of singular nanobots which move around his body to form a suit. The manifestation of the suit moving around the character needed to look both organic and mechanical, with new weapons forming from it.

Framestore was no stranger to building the ISS in CG, having done so in Gravity . This version was larger and very different in design to the real thing: around 1.5 kilometres long, compared to just over 100 metres.

Thor: Ragnarok

Directed by New Zealand comic filmmaker Taika Waititi (What We Do In The Shadows, Hunt for the Wilderpeople), Framestore reunited with Marvel Studios to deliver the climactic final act of Thor: Ragnarok, producing 459 shots of heavy-duty VFX and a host of fully-CG characters.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 - Baby Groot

As a member of the visual effects team for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” my primary focus was on the lighting of the film’s opening scene.

This opening scene features a memorable close-up shot of Baby Groot dancing to Electric Light Orchestra’s “Mr. Blue Sky” amidst a chaotic battle scene. As the camera zooms out, the audience is treated to a visual feast of exploding ships and creatures.
